The MicroEnergy Credits “Efficient Lighting Program” in India, now part of NET-HERO high-integrity carbon credit portfolio, tackles the challenge of inefficient incandescent lightbulbs (ICLs) in rural households by introducing energy-efficient inverter LED lamps.

This initiative significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and provides a host of social benefits by addressing affordability, supply chains, and aftersales services, all while partnering with women’s financial inclusion institutions to empower women as key decision-makers in their households.

By supporting this program, Net-Hero helps deliver lasting environmental and social impact through the following key points:

  • Energy Efficiency: Replacing power-hungry ICLs with inverter LED lamps.

  • Social Impact: Empowering women through financial inclusion.

  • Economic Growth: Creating local jobs and fostering sustainable community development.

  • Sustainable Development Goals: Contributes to SDG 7 (Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Economic Growth), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

  • Carbon Reduction: Verified by Verra (ID 4196), providing measurable emissions cuts.
